She declines, stating she has "her own shit to take care of." The scene shifts to Nier and a young Yonah back at the village, sitting on the hill near their house. Kainé moves to leave, but is stopped by Nier, who asks if she wants to stay with them. The player is then given a choice to write their character's name, and if entered correctly, Yonah slowly opens her eyes and they are reunited after five years. An incorporeal Weiss uses the last bit of his strength to speak, telling Nier that she will awaken when someone says the name of the one she loves most. He then rushes to Yonah's side, worried when she doesn't respond to his calls. Nier hesitates before killing the Shadowlord, but ultimately deals a fatal blow. After Nier's victory, he is able to call the Replicant Yonah back and they are reunited-however without their Gestalts, and Project Gestalt being destroyed with the death of the Shadowlord, all Replicants are inevitably doomed to extinction. To the despair of the Shadowlord she vacates the body, and him and Nier do battle. Gestalt Yonah wakes up in her Replicant body, but realizes she cannot keep it, as she hears Replicant Yonah inside her calling for her family. After realizing that the original (Gestalt) Yonah's relapse can't be stopped, he abducted the Replicant Yonah in order to force Gestalt Yonah's soul to return to her Replicant body.įive years later, Nier, Kainé, and Weiss reach the Shadowlord's chamber and, upon defeating Grimoire Noir, they discover the truth about the Shadowlord and Yonah-that they are the primary test subjects for Project Gestalt, and that the Shadowlord is simply driven by an identical desire to protect his family. She is rescued by Nier and Grimoire Weiss, and after that is usually found bedridden at home.Īt the end of Act I, Yonah is kidnapped and taken away by the Shadowlord, who's real identity is the original Nier seen in the game's prologue. Despite her illness and Nier's worrying, she often sneaks out to go to the nearby library.Īfter learning about a Lunar Tear-and its apparent ability to grant one wish to anyone who finds it-Yonah travels alone to the Lost Shrine to search for one. Over a thousand years later, Yonah and Nier live a quaint life in a small house in a remote village. Yonah's soul is suspended in this near-relapsed state, which is what causes her Replicant to always become afflicted with the Black Scrawl. Intending to try and help Nier fend them off, she touches a magical grimoire that causes an adverse reaction, called a relapse. In the Summer of 2049 ( Gestalt) or 2053 ( Replicant), Yonah and Nier are seen hiding in a supermarket from strange monsters.
